Maree Harris has managed her own consultancy since 1989, and has more than 25 years experience across a wide range of professional areas.

Her experience in corporate coaching, staff supervision, counselling and psychotherapy, education from primary through to tertiary and adult, and mediation has seen Maree develop an extensive range of skills that enhances her leadership development work.

Maree is highly experienced in People Dynamics and People Management. She has excellent interpersonal skills – those people skills and so called “soft skills” – that are now recognised as so essential in leadership development.

As well Maree's experience in social research, social work and community development has given her the ability to critically analyse social change and social development and their impact on organisations, communities and the people who live and work there.

In People Empowered Maree brings all that expertise and experience together to create leadership development processes and programs that inspire and empower people to respond pro-actively to these changing and challenging times.

While based in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia, Maree travels widely around Australia presenting her “Leadership for Changing Times Workshops”.

She provides face to face leadership development coaching to people across the Ballarat-Geelong-Melbourne triangle and coaches by telephone across Australia and beyond.

Maree is committed to her own professional development and to providing inspiration and leadership in all she does. She is a member of the Australian Human Resource Institute, the Australian Institute of Management, the Australian Businesswomen's Network and Network Central. She also is a member of a number of community organisations committed to creating a better society and world – Ballarat Health Services Community Advisory Committee, Victorian Women’s Trust, Australia-East Timor Association and she convenes two groups dedicated to the achievement of social justice for all people. She has a particular commitment to the micro-credit movement, the empowering of people in Third World countries with low or no interest business loans so they can lift themselves out of poverty.

In 2003 Maree completed a PhD with a thesis on “Being a Reflective Practitioner in An Age of Uncertainty”. This in depth study about how people learn, grow and become in these challenging and changing times was instrumental in motivating and inspiring the development of People Empowered.
